Flight Ticket Hidden Extras Now Out In The Open

Twelve UK airlines will no longer hide last-minute surcharges on their ticket prices, the Office of Fair Trading has said.

The companies, including EasyJet and Ryanair, have agreed to include extra debit card charges from the outset in the headline ticket price instead of deceiving customers at the end when they confirm payment.

This will speed up legislation banning excessive credit and debit card surcharges, saving airline passengers an annual collective of £300m.

Clive Maxwell, the OFT’s chief executive, said: “It is important that the cost presented when they search for a flight is realistic and that they are not surprised by extra charges.”
